The landscapes of Tuscany inspired the canvases of the Renaissance painters, and exploring the hazy hills, medieval hill-top towns, museums and art galleries is a rare treat. The long summer season, meanwhile, is alive with open-air concerts and opera, as well as little seasonal festas held in villages and towns. Then there's the food to discover and the Sangiovese wines to try.
